Bogotá

La Candeleria

the old, colorful, colonial section of the city that is very photogenic. This is the most interesting area for you to go to. There are several museums there including: La Casa de la Moneda, Botero Museum (he does the fat people- my FAVE!!!), El Museo de Oro, and La Plaza de Bolívar.

Street vendors and panederías selling arepas (de chocolo are sweet), buñuelos, pan de queso, pan de yuca should definitely be on your list. At restaurants, the option called “El Ejecutivo Corriente” is the cheapest option with lots of food. There is a soup chain called “Sopas de la Abuela” with really, really delicious typical Colombian soups. Ajiaco is the best (potato based with chicken and rice). “Crepes and Waffles” is another chain of Colombian-style lunch/ dinner crepes if you are craving a lil something sweet.

Monserratte

church on top of a mountain that you can take a gondola to. Totally worthwhile for a stunning view of the city. If you decide to have a drink at a bar at the top, try the tyypica Canelazo, a drink made with Aguardiente, the typical Colombian anise-flavor alchohol. Mmmmm it warms you up if you’re cold!

La Zona T

the place to go out at night or at least observe the late-night young professional crowd. It is packed with good restaurants, bars and clubs.

Armenia

and the surrounding areas are the coffee country. Beautiful countryside with sleepy villages. A real authentic feel with a tranquil ambiance.

Cali

Juanchito is a world-famous area outside of Cali for salsa dancing. VERY different than what you see in LA (no spinning, all hips). It is just clumps of clubs everywhere open all night long, with street vendors and people all around.
